Tridentis is pleased to announce that it was awarded a contract to design and build a new canal boat to operate on the historic C&O Canal in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. This canal boat will travel the revitalized C&O Canal National Historic Park through the Georgetown District giving tours to the public and school groups and hosting chartered events. Under this contract, awarded by Georgetown Heritage, a nonprofit organization working to revitalize, activate and interpret the National Park Service assets in Georgetown, Tridentis is partnering with a local boatyard to construct the vessel out of long-lasting, low-maintenance composite materials to provide an easy-to-own and operate boat for the National Park Service and Georgetown Heritage.  Despite the modern material, Tridentis will preserve the historical wooden appearance of the boat’s exterior hull features, deck flooring and canopy framing. This canal boat will be designed with the latest green-powered propulsion technology, utilizing mules to tow the boat through the canal. As a local small business headquartered in Alexandria, VA, Tridentis is extremely proud to have significant involvement in this unique and historically meaningful project. We look forward to contributing to the history of Washington, DC and the C&O Canal.
