Ghost Pots Detected!
Tridentis Advanced Marine Vehicles reached a key milestone in our NOAA Phase I SBIR project to use our ACM™ autonomous craft and AI/ML data processing techniques to identify derelict crab traps, or "ghost pots".
On a foggy day last week, we deployed the ACM™ in portions of Maryland and Virginia near Colonial Beach. In less than 2 hours of surveying, we were able to identify more than 30 ghost pots, a patch of harder substrate, and one car tire. The project demonstrates the viability of our solution and is a key step to use autonomy to improve water quality and crab harvests!
